July 22 Congo Prayer Event: A Special Thanks From Pastor Kasereka to Members and Visitors

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ:


It is with great feeling of joy that I am writing to thank each one of you who made last Sunday of July 22nd 2012, a big day of learning, praying and praising our Lord at ACCCSC. The Democratic Republic of Congo was the focal point of our prayers. This is because we do believe that with sincere prayers to the Almighty Lord, and different actions taken to fight violence, the situation in Congo will change for the best of the Congolese people

I am specially thanking the “Congo Justice” team led by Todd who drove all the way from Las Vegas. Just learning the implication of some countries like the USA and Rwanda in the misery of Congolese people led some people to shed tears. It was even so comforting to see some Japanese brothers and sisters come to sympathize with us at ACCCSC. Thank you brothers and sisters, you are great.

We want to thank the team from the “Here Is Life Inner City Ministries”, represented by Serah. The Inner City Ministries is a branch of Campus Crusade for Christ. They shared with us what the Lord is doing in the lives of Inner Cities youth who are many times considered to be trouble makers of the society. Many young men and women are discovering the “abundant life” in Christ for a brighter future. We can learn a lot from them and be able to help our Congolese children of the street called “Shegues”.

We are thankful to the Jewish World Watch (JWW) through its Assistant Director Naama. She brought good news, at last, to the Congolese community, by informing the audience about the US decision to cut its military aids to a country considered to be involved in entertaining extreme violence in Eastern DRC. She challenged the audience to continue fighting until deep changes happen from invading countries and in the attitude of the “corrupt” Congolese government.

We will not forget the “Sons of Congo” (SOC) that was represented by Mr. Chris and Mrs. Aimee Wing. We were reminded of the hard work that this ministry is doing in the DRC, on the grass-root level, where men (males) lives are being transformed. Testimonies of two Congolese men, once violent, but who are now on the road of transformation were shared.

Together as a united body, Garrick from SOC, Christine from the “Women Elevated to Excellence”, and Pastor Doug of the First Evangelical Free Church of Los Angeles led us in powerful time of prayer. A big word of thanks goes to them, even as Pastor Doug challenged us Congolese to search in ourselves and not be always blaming other people for Congo disaster. A word of wisdom and benediction from the Reverend Dr. Nlongi gave a special conclusion to the day. Thank papa Nlongi.

Our service reached another level with the performance of the choir of the “Women of the Good News” called in Lingala “Ba Mama Ya Sango Malamu” conducted by mama Esther Diomi Bwamontala, and through our church praise team that led us in time of worship and celebration. Thank you ba mama, thank you praise team.

Thank you for everyone who came to make that day of prayer an exceptional one. We want to thank Pastor Willie Kiilu from the KICC, everyone from the Vineyard church of Anaheim, the Ethiopian Christian Fellowship Church, the First Evangelical Free Church of Los Angeles, the Long Beach Christian Fellowship, the Holly Care Church of Pasadena and others whom we may unintentionally forgotten to mention. You all meant a lot to us.

I can’t forget to thank our ACCCSC members and some brothers and sisters from Congo Justice who worked hard to make it a successful day. Mama Elizabeth Mandela, who boldly officiated the service, and was assisted by Mimi Kiro Kiro and Thomas Nikuna, deserves a “thank you word”. The media team led by Victor Masivi did a great job, the women who prepared the food, and the men who served it deserve all a “thank you” word. To all of us who were present there, I say thank you and may the Almighty God be gracious to us. Please, be assured of our love for you.
